DAY 3: UMUSIC X JUNOSPosted on April 3, 2017
We woke up to a crowd of girls outside our hotel, and very quickly realized that show day was here! Of course, the crowd was waiting for Mr. Shawn Mendes, leaving for his JUNOS rehearsal.
Before we could head over to the JUNOS venue, we got a bit dolled up – all thanks to MAC Cosmetics. They had a little station set up in the hotel, as part of our Universal Music House. Of course wine was provided too, thanks to Apothic. It was exactly what we needed to feel red carpet ready!
The Canadian Tire Centre was a 30 min drive from our hotel, and we spent the entire time trying to calm our butterflies. It was a lot to take in the fact that we would be breathing the same air as some of our fave artists, let alone that we were about to interview them! We checked in and headed to the carpet, right in time to see it’s plastic layer removed. Shit was about to get real, fast.
Before we knew it, it was show time for us! Lights, camera…before we could say action, one of our publicists brought over Shawn Mendes. YES, Shawn Mendes was the very first artist we talked to on the carpet & guys – he’s just the nicest.
We then talked to everyone from Zedd, Sam Roberts Band and July Talk to Jess Moskaluke, The Dirty Nil, and so many more. Stay tuned soon for our red carpet video coverage!
We spent the rest of the night in the media room, chatting with some of the night’s winners and performers.
What would you ask artists backstage, if you got the chance? Let us know in the comments below. Check out some more of the pics we grabbed backstage:
Did you hear that Justin Trudeau was at the event? Our country is so cool.
As you do, after the show we hit up the after party. With chandeliers built of bottles, a DJ with the best beats, a photobooth and open bar – we celebrated the 2017 JUNOS one final time.
We really can’t believe it went so fast. Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners in each and every category. Time to start preparing for 2018, in Vancouver! For a full list of 2017 JUNO winners, click here.
