CBC Music Festival Marks The Start Of Festival Season & Blows Our Minds!Posted on May 29, 2017
While snow continuously graced our presence last season in Toronto, May 27th marked our first festival of 2017. AKA: sunglasses and summer are making a comeback!
CBC Music Festival is a rare single day festival. However, with only 9 hours to impress, it successfully blew our minds.
The morning felt like rain was going to take over, but as soon as The Beaches took the stage – the clouds gave it up 😉 and the sun came out!
Next on the roster of perfect performances was Quebec native, Bobby Bazini. The Summer Is Gone singer never fails to amaze us with his absolutely beautiful vocals.
Before we hit the next performance, we stopped for some festival food. Other than music, this is our most favourite part of any festival! CBC Music Fest was offering everything from poutines, to mac and cheese, fried pickles, fancy fruit drinks and so much more!
After lunch we were READY to dance & headed to Alx Veliz‘s set where we did just that! Alx had so much energy, it was amazing. He even came off the stage to Dance Kizomba with the crowd 🙂
Before we knew it, headliners were ready to take CBC Music Festival. First up was Walk Off the Earth! Not only did WOTE bring smoke, fire & all kind of instruments to their set, but they also covered some of the hottest songs. From Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” to their very own “Fire In My Soul,” we left all kinds of satisfied. The put on one heck of a show!
For the final performance of the night, Serena Ryder took the main stage! With her brand new album Utopia out only one day before, we couldn’t wait to see Serena perform.
She lit up the crowd with an old favourite to start – “What I Wouldn’t Do.”
Once the crowd warmed up their vocals, Serena took them on a special acoustic journey. Performing with just a guitar and a small table lamp, Serena brought the crowd something unique and extremely memorable. With the moon shining down, the acoustic performance almost felt like a giant sized bon fire! As soon as it was over though, Serena turned CBC Music Festival into one more dance party, for the final time. The crowd yelled out every lyric of “Electric Love,” leaving everything they had on the festival grounds.
Not only was the first festival of the season fantastic, but CBC Music Festival left a standard we’ll be looking for at every other festival season. Peep our festival photos for even more evidence of how awesome the day was!
