We know them for making music, but so many artists have also moonlit as authors!
If you think about it, while artists are performers, they’re also song writers. Any good song tells a story. Songs make you feel raw emotion and often listeners wonder: what’s the backstory? Books are a place for a developed narrative. While a song might end at 4.00 minutes, a book can extend to over 400 pages. It’s not an easy task, but for a creative story teller, it is a fun challenge.
Let’s take a look at five musicians that took on the creative writing process:
The Vamps: Official Book
“Since forming on YouTube in 2012, The Vamps have become one of the biggest bands in the UK. They have travelled the world with massive arena tours, sold hundreds of thousands of records, and gained legions of amazing and devoted fans. They have gone from schoolboys to superstardom in just a few years, and for the first time Connor, Brad, Tristan and James tell their story. From life on the road to dealing with their new-found fame, nothing is off-limits.” – Amazon
Demi Lovato – Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year
“Demi Lovato wakes up each morning and affirms her commitment to herself―to her health, her happiness, her being. Those commitments are the bedrock of her recovery and her work helping other young people dealing with the issues she lives with every single day.
Those affirmations have grown into STAYING STRONG, a powerful 365-day collection of Demi’s most powerful, honest, and hopeful insights. Each day will provide the readers with a quote, a personal reflection and a goal.
These are Demi’s words. Words she lives by and shares with the people she loves and total strangers alike. They are a powerful testament to a young woman standing up and fighting back.” – Amazon
Kanye West – Thank You and You’re Welcome
“Kanye West teams up with co- author J. Sakiya Sandifer to make his literary debut with Thank You And You’re Welcome!, an entertaining volume of “Kanye-isms” – the creative, humorous and insightful philosophies and anecdotes used in creating his path to success. It captures the same wit, playful irony, and piercing insight found abundant in his lyrics. In Thank You And You’re Welcome! Kanye delivers his personal message uncensored, without any five-second delay or media distortion. “My book is a guide to creating then celebrating your moment!” says Kanye.” – Amazon
Justin Bieber – My Step 2 Forever: My Story
“My music and lyrics give a glimpse of what’s in my heart, but I think this book is a window into my world. In here are hundreds of pictures of me that no one’s ever seen before, and I’ll tell you about who I was before I joined forces with Scooter Braun and Usher and got a record deal, and who I’ve become since I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to share my music with the world.” – Amazon
Jay-Z – Decoded
“Decoded is a book like no other: a collection of lyrics and their meanings that together tell the story of a culture, an art form, a moment in history, and one of the most provocative and successful artists of our time.” – Amazon
