10 times artists have KILLED the sneaker game

Posted on January 31, 2019

Sneakers are awesome, and for many they are more than just a pair of shoes. For decades, people have been using their sneakers to make a statement – to express themselves. Sure, a cool, clean pair of kicks can perfectly compliment or highlight an outfit. Beyond that, they say something about the person wearing them.

Sneakers often have connotations that are rooted in music history, so it makes sense that musicians pay special attention to the shoes they wear. Here are 10 times artists have been pictured with some serious heat:

Drake in his custom Nike Air Max Plus “For Stage Use”

Drake donned the special edition Nike Air Max Plus silhouette during his recent tour promoting his fifth studio album “Scorpion.” On Instagram he posted the shoe with the caption “Stage Use Only.” This pair was made exclusively for Drake and has not been released anywhere else.

DJ Khaled in the Off-White Nike Air Force 1

DJ Khaled has become a sneaker legend, at least on social media. The father of Asahd is constantly posting pictures with the freshest kicks. Here he is pictured with the Virgil Abloh designed Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 in black.

Post Malone in his custom Crocs

Kudos to Post Malone for branching out and trying something different. Here he is pictured with his very own, limited edition “Post Malone x Crocs” collaboration. We know that Crocs are an…acquired taste (and might not even qualify as a sneaker,) but they are undeniably comfy and convenient. Plus, they sold out almost instantly, so people must like them!

Justin Bieber in the “Yeezy Wave Runner 700”

Justin Bieber has also been known to step out in a pair of fresh kicks every now and then. Here he is in the Adidas Yeezy Boost 700  “Wave Runner” in the OG colourway. The dad-shoe silhouette is, of course, designed by Yeezy himself, Kanye West.

J Cole in the Adidas “Torsion Dimension Low”

When it comes to the sneaker game, J Cole is no novice. The Dreamville rapper likes to mix it up and can be seen rocking anything from Jordan Brand, Pumas, Adidas, Nikes, etc. He is pictured here wearing a lesser known (but very dope) silhouette from Adidas called the Torsion Dimension Low.

Kendrick Lamar in the Nike Cortez Kenny II

The Nike Cortez is a California staple. So, it comes as no surprise that Compton’s own Kendrick Lamar has teamed up with Nike to release multiple iterations of the silhouette. Pictured above is the “Cortez Kenny II”, which is the second of four Cortez modelz that K.Dot and Nike have teamed up to design and release.

Halsey in the Off-White x Air Jordan 1 “UNC”

Halsey knows her sneakers. The “Without Me” singer is a self-proclaimed sneaker enthusiast and has a deep rotation of impressive, head-turning kicks. She has mentioned before that one of her favourite silhouettes is the Jordan 1, as evidenced in this picture of her rocking the limited Off-White Air Jordan 1 in the classic UNC colourway.

The Weeknd in the UNDEFEATED x BAPE Timberlands

The Weeknd is staying Winter-ready with a classic pair of Timberland boots. These are more than just your everyday Timbs, though. The pair that the Weeknd is wearing in this picture are apart of the UNDEFEATED x BAPE collaboration, and feature a special debossed upper and a custom woven label featuring all three brands.

Pusha T in the Adidas “Yung-1”

The Rap Album of the year Grammy nominee Pusha T is an Adidas brand ambassador, so you’ll usually see him rocking the three stripes. Here he is wearing a funky-coloured Adidas Yung-1.

Adam Levine in the Air Jordan 4

Whether he is out and about or performing at a show, Adam Levine is rarely seen without some serious heat on his feet. The Maroon 5 frontman is a bonafide sneaker head. He is pictured above wearing the highly sought after, Travis Scott designed Air Jordan 4’s.
