8 MAY, 2020 (TORONTO, ON) – Today artist Eli Rose has released a brand new single, “Rebel (If I Lie)” via Maison Barclay Canada/ Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. The singer has released French (“Rebelle”) and English versions of the song, the first pieces of new music since her self-titled debut album, released last year. Listen to both versions of “Rebel (If I Lie)” HERE.
“I wrote “Rebel (If I lie)” from a very personal space and it’s the result of the first time I collaborated with my friend, the director Nk.F,” Eli shared. “ I hope this songs touches you and has the ability to transport you elsewhere…I’d also like to take this opportunity to salute those of you who find yourselves on the frontlines during this pandemic, you are supporting our society. I’m an author, composer and interpreter confined to my home and your dedication to protecting us allows me to create in a safe space. From here on I hope you enjoy these two new songs.”
The English version of the deeply personal track, “Rebel (If I lie),” was written by the artist along with Nk.F (Angèle, PNL, Orelsan, Niska), Joa, Caracol and Sam Tucker. The French version of the song, “Rebelle” was written by Eli Rose and Trackbastardz (made up of Nk.F and Joa). A video for the song, filmed in late winter of this year, is also out today. Directed by Jérémie Saidon (Milk & Bone, Yelle), the video features a masterfully blended version of the single in French and English, enrapturing audiences and taking them on an emotional journey. The video stars well known Quebec actor Felix Antoine Tremblay (Le Chalet, Épidémie) who along with Eli Rose portray a couple confronting betrayal within their relationship that ultimately leads to their heartbreaking demise.
With concert plans being postponed due to concerns over Covid-19, the Montreal-based singer-songwriter has been using the downtime to be creative, penning new material she hopes to share soon.
