5 Reasons We Can't Wait for the 2016 EMA!

Posted on November 04, 2016

The EMA (European Music Awards) are coming up and we could not be more excited! So many Canadian acts will be taking the stage in one of the year’s most exciting music awards shows!

Here’s what we know so far:

Alessia Cara, Drake, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, and Shawn Mendes are each nominated for “Best Canadian Act”, while Ariana Grande, DNCE, Halsey, Kanye West, Lady Gaga, One Republic, Mike Posner, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Tame Impala, The 1975 and others are also nominated across a ton of categories!

But the beauty of award shows is, you never know what’s going to happen. Here are 5 things we anticipate will go down during this year’s EMA.

Drake and Rihanna will either confirm or confuse us

After many public displays of affection on stage (and off), we’re dying to know just how things will go down between Drake and Rihanna. Will they sit together? Is this still a thing? WE NEED ANSWERS!

What will DNCE wear?

One thing we love most about DNCE, is their insanely wicked sense of style. They really know how to make stage presence, so we anticipate something wild for this year’s EMA.

Will The Weeknd bring back his hair?

As recent photos of the young “Starboy” suggest, The Weeknd recently dropped his signature look for something a little more low maintenance. We wonder if that phase is over, or if he’ll be rocking a scream mask during a possible performance of “False Alarm.” Hmmmmm. So. Many. Possibilities.

Battle of the Little Monsters and the Beliebers

Last time we checked, Bieber and Gaga fans had a close tie for the “Biggest Fan” nominations, while the Mendes Army is catching up. Which fan-base will take the cake?! Check out the latest polls and don’t forget to vote for your favourite artist!

Yeezy will be there…

…nuff said.

Wonder how all of this will play out? You’ll never know unless you catch the EMA’s on MTV Canada this Sunday November 6th at 8pm EST. In the meantime, let us know what you think will go down in the comments below:
