A huge congratulations goes out to our real crowd pleasers, Rae Sremmurd, as they achieve their very first Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit. Can you guess which track gave them that title? “Black Beatles” featuring Gucci Mane of course! Taking over the number one spot from The Chainsmoker‘s dominant run with “Closer” featuring Halsey, the Sremmlife boys have claimed the top spot with a little help from our friends, The Internet. In case you’ve been living under a rock, a particular trend called The Mannequin Challenge has been blowing up worldwide and the unofficial soundtrack to all this madness has been none other than Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles.” Even we joined in on the madness.
As soon as the track hit number one, Nicki Minaj couldn’t help herself from jumping on the Mike Will Made It beat to drop some of her own bars. Labeling the song “Black Barbies” Minaj straight up knocks this one out of the park.
New day, new money to be made
New things for them to imitate
I’m a f**kin’ black barbie
Pretty face, perfect body
Pink seats in the ‘Rari
Along with the Minaj remix, there have been some INCREDIBLE covers of “Black Beatles” which have helped push the hype and awareness. One of our fave covers comes from Alex Aiono & William Singe. It’s crazy to see how internet trends can impact one’s musical careers, but Rae Sremmurd really have to give credit to the people for this one. Mike Will Made It rightfully showed love for the accomplishment on twitter.
