The timing of this is not only perfect, but necessary. Troye Sivan‘s latest music vid for “Heaven” is exactly what we ALL need to see right now. With conflicting opinions happening all over the world, it’s important to continue to love and support one another no matter who you are.
Troye’s track and the visuals that accompany it, really embrace the pride, concerns, and accomplishments of the LGBTQ community. Troye’s passion for being true to himself and encouraging all of his fans to do the same is at the forefront of everything he does.
“I think the most important thing to me at this point in my career is being able to be honest in my songwriting — and these songs are about boys…To me the old ways of thinking about sexuality, these are all inevitable things that are going to change and my attitude is, let’s pretend as if they are changed, let’s pretend it’s not an issue to have two boys kissing in a music video or whatever it is. Let’s just do it and do it unapologetically because that is our honest experience. That is our truth.”
Talk about inspiring!
Additionally, the track features another Australian born singer-songwriter, Betty Who, who brings that extra bit of WOW to the song. The dynamic of Troye singing a verse and then Betty singing a verse is perfection. Hopefully we’ll see more collabs in the future.
Notable Lyrics:
The truth runs wild; like a tear down a cheek.
Without losing a piece of me; how do I get to heaven?
When breaking down the lyrics of the song, Troye commented: “The song is about finding your self-confidence. No matter what you have to go through to be able to accept yourself, I think it’s completely worth it. When you finally arrive at self-peace and you accept who you are, I feel like nothing can really touch you and even if you don’t make it to heaven or whatever it’s completely cool because you loved yourself.”
Now time to lay our eyes on the powerful visuals:
Troye Sivan – “Heaven“
Wondering if it’s a coincidence that Troye’s “Heaven” video, with such a strong LGBTQ message was released on Jan 20th (Australian time) — the same day as President Elect Donald Trump’s Inauguration? We don’t think this is a coincidence at all. Not only did Troye note that the “Heaven” video would drop on Inauguration day:

But he also had a very active voice online during the American elections and his views on equality:
