Nobody shows The Weeknd love quite like his hometown of Toronto.
The singer has been a continuous presence on earbuds and stereos worldwide in 2017 thanks to his latest album, Starboy, and its singles like the title track, “I Feel It Coming”, and “Party Monster.”
But it was time for The Weeknd to return to his roots.
Playing to a packed house at the Air Canada Centre, the Weeknd belted out his current smashes and deep catalogue hits like “The Morning” and “Wicked Games”.
There were plenty of special guests, too: another T.O. native, Belly, came out to perform duet “Might Not”; local star-in-the-making Nav wowed the crowd with the infectious “Some Way”; French Montana hit the stage to run through smash hit “Unforgettable” and OVO affiliate BAKA delighted the crowd with club hit “Live Up To My Name”.
For an artist that only appears to be getting bigger and bigger, Saturday’s showcase was a testament to why The Weeknd deserves to be at the front of the world stage.
