Selena Gomez recently shared an intimate and private part of her life on Instagram. The “Fetish” singer posted a photo that explained to her fans why she wasn’t present in the spotlight over the Summer. Selena underwent a kidney transplant earlier in the year and revealed that the donor was close friend and Secret Life of The American Teenager actress, Francia Raisa.
“I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the Summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health” – in the post Selena shares multiple photos from pre and post-surgery.
Back in October 2015, Selena revealed that she was diagnosed with Lupus and was undergoing therapy for the disease. In August of 2016, she took a break from her career after suffering from anxiety and depression.
Since then, Selena has become an advocate for Lupus. As said in the post, she mentions that she wants to continue to share her struggles with Lupus because it is something that many people have a difficulty with understanding.
It is clear that she took the time out of the spotlight to preserve her own health and maintain the happiness that she radiates today.
Stay strong Selena, we love you ❤️
