“Don’t expect everyone to know who you are” were Shawn Mendes’ words as he told The Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon, how he got put in a headlock by Drake’s security team. As he explained it, Shawn was at The Weeknd’s performance in Toronto when he noticed Drake standing nearby. Wanting to say hi to his fellow 6ix-sider, Mendes walked over and attempted to place a hand on Drake’s side. What he soon learned was that you cannot simply reach out and touch Drake. Within seconds, Drake’s security had grabbed Shawn’s arm, and twisted it around immobilizing the “Mercy” singer. Luckily for Mendes’ sake, Drake turned around and noticed what was going on, recognizing Shawn, and preventing further action. As Jimmy joked that Shawn should hire Drake’s security for his own tour, Shawn joked it off with a realization that despite his own global success, not everyone knows what he looks like.
