Simply Complicated is the title of Demi’s new documentary, which is fitting for the life of a pop star. The simplicity of life seen on the outside. Compared to the complicated life behind closed doors.
The documentary tracks Demi Lovato’s past with the focus on her personal struggles that nearly ended her life. She delves into the history of onset battles while narrating throughout, in a series of interviews and old footage. Demi, along with Nick Jonas, her manager Phil McIntyre and a couple of Demi’s close friends all make appearances to speak on her internal fight.
She goes on to show details from the making of her latest album, Tell Me You Love Me. She also includes behind the scenes footage of the recording and creative process.
Although a little heavy at times – there are definitely lighter moments. Simply Complicated is a documentary full of honesty. It shows that Demi has a difficult past, but it’s also a past that has shaped the woman she is today. The hardships; the music; the relationships – they all play an important role.
