American Music Awards Archives: The Ultimate Flashback

Posted on November 17, 2017

Let’s take a walk down memory lane.

The American Music Awards always have the most incredible line-up of performers. And the 2017 show will be no different. What better way to gear up for this year’s show than to call up the best moments in AMAs history. From nominees, to winners, and of course the grand performances, there’s been so many amazing memories from past shows have been amazing, that 2017 is sure to only get better.

Niall Horan

In 2016 Niall debuted his solo career by performing the intimate, “This Town” on the AMAs stage. If last year’s showing is any indication of his performance this year, then we are in for a serious treat. Especially since Flicker is so great.

Shawn Mendes

The Canadian babe put on an epic performance in 2016. He sang a mash-up of “Mercy,” and “Treat You Better” which had the audience on their feet – and us, tbh. Anytime Shawn’s performs, it’s a given that he’s going to put on an amazing show.

Selena Gomez

In 2016, Selena won herself the award for Favourite Female Artist: Rock/Pop. This year, she will be debuting a brand new song on the AMAs stage. The hit collab with Marshmello called “Wolves” will premiere for the very first time. This will be her first performance in a very long time and we’re so ready for it.

Hailee Steinfeld

In 2015, Hailee Steinfeld was a presenter at the award show, alongside Shawn Mendes. This year, she will be taking the stage with Florida Georgia Line (2016’s Favourite Group: Country), Alesso and watt, to perform their hit song, “Let Me Go.”

Lady Gaga

Gaga performed her very emotional track, “Million Reasons” at the 2016 AMAs. The singer brought her heart and soul into that performance, that truly got everyone in the feels. So we can’t wait to see what she puts together for this year.

Alessia Cara

Alessia was nominated for Best New Artist back in 2016, but has yet to perform on the AMA stage. This year, however, she will be joined by Zedd to perform their hit, “Stay.”

Demi Lovato

Although Demi didn’t take the AMAs stage last year, in 2015 she belted out her song, “Confident”. Expect to watch her on your screens this year, though. She will be performing her hit, “Sorry Not Sorry” which is the lead single off her new album Tell Me You Love Me.

Nick Jonas

Who remembers that epic medley that Nick Jonas performed at the 2015 AMAs? It was a medley of his solo hits, “Chains,” “Levels,” and “Jealous”. We can’t wait to see what he pulls out of the bag this time ’round.

Imagine Dragons

The Imagine Dragons aren’t new to the AMAs. They’ve been nominated in various categories since back in 2013. It’s been a while since they have performed on the stage, though – four whole years to be exact. They will however, be taking the stage at this year’s award show with a song off their newest album Evolve.
