Why We’re Beyond Excited For The 1975’s ‘Music For Cars’ Era

Posted on November 08, 2018

The 1975 never fails to excite us

In case you missed it, Manchester’s indie pop band, The 1975 have a ton of exciting things going on. They just released an amazing and very poignant video for their latest single, “Love It If We Made It”. They announced a 23-date North American tour next spring – starting in Mexico in March and ending June 3rd at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage. Their third studio album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships is set to be released on November 30th.

When it comes to The 1975, a new album signifies an entirely new era. The release of their self-titled debut album – and the preceding EPs – was the beginning of the black & white era. They transitioned to the pink era when they announced their sophomore album, I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It. So while we’ve only seen a few sneak peeks of what the Music For Cars era might look like, we’re absolutely beside ourselves with excitement.

Take a peek at the video for “Love It If We Made It” and you’ll see exactly why we’re absolutely buzzing.

Now that we’re all beyond ready for this album and era to fully be upon us, let’s talk about some of the things we have to look forward to from The 1975.

1. This interview with Beats 1: expect another new album from The 1975 next year.

Matty Healy explains that the album won’t be called Music For Cars, but that will instead be the name of the era in which they release A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships and Notes on a Conditional Form back to back.

2. A new era means a new live experience

Arguably the best thing about The 1975 is their live shows. The band takes great care to curate their lighting and imagery in order to create a completely immersive experience for fans rather than just a concert. When you attend a The 1975 gig, you can be sure you’ll leave with a buzzing feeling of elation.

3. New era, new merch

We love The 1975’s merch. They always have the coolest designs. If you’re anything like us, every shirt you own has a rectangle or some cryptic The 1975 phrase on it. We really cannot wait to see what they’ll have at the shows next year.
