New Music Friday: Billie Eilish, Sam Smith, The Vamps and more

Posted on July 31, 2020

Congratulations on making it through another busy week! As a gift to yourself we recommend sitting back, relaxing, and indulging in some great music. Luckily, there’s been plenty of new releases lately and we’re sharing some below.

While you’re here be sure to check out this playlist to start your weekend off right.

“my future” by Billie Eilish

Eilish announced the release of this song last Friday on IG accumulating over 11 million likes… no big deal. The song officially dropped yesterday evening – marking the first release from Billie since February. Fans are describing this track as sheer perfection and we’d be fools to disagree. Our Gen Z Queen pens an introspective song about her growth and hopes for what’s yet to come. The animated music video beautifully brings it all to life and can be watched here. “No Dribble” by Da Baby x Stunna 4 Vegas

Da Baby’s been dominating the summer charts (you can’t listen to the radio without hearing “Rockstar”) and there’s no sign of slowing down. The Charlotte rapper recruited Stunna 4 Vegas for their latest single, “No Dribble”. The track is riddled with double-entendres and basketball references (go sports!). “Quitting You” by the Arkells

Juno-winning rock band Arkells recently released the swoon worthy song “Quitting You” and we’re already picturing it as the closing track for a new coming-of-age indie film. “Quitting You” precedes their forthcoming acoustic project, Campire Cords (08.20). “My Oasis” by Sam Smith ft. Burna Boy

“My Oasis” dropped yesterday and we’ve already listened to it 117 times. Name a better duo than Sam Smith and Burna Boy… we’ll wait. This song was described as an emotional catharsis for Sam and between the Spanish strings and beautiful melodies, it’s a dreamy hit.

The sophomore album from indie pop group, Dizzy has arrived. The Sun And Her Scorch offers a delightful blend of warm songs and hauntingly beautiful tracks all backed up by top-notch production value. This project debuts maturer lyrics and an elevated confidence following their first album and subsequent Juno win.

Broken Perfection by Anna Sofia

At just 17, Anna’s acquired a strong audience and millions of streams from her vulnerable and hyper-relatable songs. The Toronto-based musician writes music inspired by her life, referencing mean girls, young love, drama, and the trials and tribulations of growing up. Her latest album Broken Perfection covers all of this and more and is available on all platforms now.

“Married in Vegas” by The Vamps

Married in Vegas” marks a new era and a revamped sound for the British pop rock band. The song arrives a few months before their forthcoming album, Cherry Blossom scheduled for 10.16. “Married in Vegas” was crafted during quarantine under serendipitous circumstances.  Frontman Brad Simpson has high hopes for the project and hopes the fans cherish the new music as much as the band does.  We’re optimistic that that outcome will be achieved!
