Clairo ‘Sling’ Album
“I’m so excited for you to hear this record, I hope you enjoy it. It’s for mom, for Joanie, for me and for you.” – Clairo
With the release of her debut album ‘Immunity,’ Clairo shot for the stars and achieved massive success. Today, she returns almost two years later with her sophomore album, “Sling.” Praised for writing so honestly in her music, Clairo’s lyrics are as emotionally driven as every entry in a diary. Honey vocals complimented with stellar production of both Clairo and Jack Antonoff bring the cohesive vision of this album to life. Whether wanting to chill out, cry, vibe or really anything, this album is something we will be reaching for in every occasion.

Alessia Cara “Sweet Dream” & “Shapeshifter”
Canada’s sweetheart and one of our favourite Cancers, Alessia Cara released two singles off of her upcoming 3rd Studio Album. The two tracks titled “Sweet Dream” and “Shapeshifter” take completely different sounds, that can be seen from the aesthetic direction of the singles covers. “Sweet Dream” takes a more traditional pop route with whimsical and fantasy sounding undertones, whereas “Shapershifter” takes a more traditional R&B / Jazz sounding route with deeper vocals. Both songs have their own unique colours and show off the range of Cara’s talent. Be sure to let us know which one is your favourite!
Locals Only Sound “Easy”
Following up their previous international lineup of collaborations, the duo is back with their newest single and boy, do they make it look “Easy.” The duo we know and love, known as Locals Only Sound, dropped new music along with a new music video today. The duo harnesses their sound into an emotionally honest song; opening up on a more intimate level with their music. This song combines the sounds of summer and the chill element of the beach for a calming listening experience – definitely one for the beach day playlists!

Peach Tree Rascals “Popeye”
In a song that sounds directly out of the Y2K era, this single serves a rap track from a coming of age movie. Peach Tree Rascals released their 8-track EP, ‘Camp Nowhere,’ earlier this year and are already feeding us new music. “Popeye” is in collaboration with AG Club and shows a different side to this band than seen in their previous works. Overall, the tune has fresh pop elements to keep it trendy, while also implementing the chart topping rap flows – brilliant.

Swedish House Mafia “It Gets Better”
It’s been almost a decade since we’ve had anything to hear from the Swedish House Mafia supergroup – that being until this week. Reuniting, they dropped their comeback track, “It Gets Better,” re-establishing their name in a new era of music. The trio, best known for their EDM tracks, are looking to recapture audiences with a new polarizing sound. The weight of making a comeback after this long is one we cannot even fathom, but they’ve done it with style, class and an absolute bop. Shockingly, we would say this song can be loved by all, but will be adored by fans of the Hyperpop genre!

Trippie Redd “Holy Smokes” feat. Lil Uzi Vert
In an extremely fun collaboration, we hear the stylings of Trippie Redd complimented by the flow of Lil Uzi Vert. The track titled, “Holy Smokes,” dropped last night to bring video game realness to audiences everywhere. The visuals further add to the arcade aesthetic and sound with Uzi and Redd having their own caricatures ready to embark on a quest. This song is pure fun and all we can say is holy smokes this song is great!

OMB Bloodbath ‘Blood Sample’ EP
Rap prodigy for the coming years, OMB Bloodbath adds to her catalogue with the release of her new EP, ‘Blood Sample.’ The EP features the earlier 2021 single “Don’t Do It” in addition to 4 brand new tracks that are simply fire. Each song on the EP showcases OMB’s raw talent in the art of rap with flows for days. While keeping the entire project on the same artistic sound, the versatility and uniqueness of each track shines through. If you’re new to OMB Bloodbath, a stan or just a rap lover, ‘Blood Sample’ is one you won’t want to miss.

LANY “up to me” & “dna [demo]”
LANY has been bringing the heat this year, having already released an album and a handful of singles, but now they’re back with two more! “up to me” & “dna [demo]” showcase different colours within the range of LANY’s catalogue. “up to me” is an upbeat pop song that radiates the energy of summer and wanting your lover back. “dna [demo]” takes a much softer and acoustic sound that focus on the vocals with soft instrumentation. Both of these songs have completely different sounds that make them perfect for different occasions! Do you have a preferred track? Let us a know!

Thanks again for joining us for another weekly instalment of New Music Friday! Every track on this list is absolutely awesome in their own ways, but we need to give a special shoutout to Alessia Cara as we are huge fans of both tracks.
