05 October 2018 (Toronto, ON) - Worldwide Multi-Platinum, 2018 Grammy Award®-winning “Best New Artist” Alessia Cara, the most-streamed new female artist of 2017, today releases her brand-new single and video, “Trust My Lonely” via Def Jam Recordings/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. “Trust My Lonely” follows up the June release of  “Growing Pains”; both tracks are slated to appear on Cara’s upcoming second album, The Pains of Growing. Listen to “Trust My Lonely” HERE.

In the bright, colourful new video for “Trust My Lonely”, Cara once again dons the symbolic oversized suit she wore in the “Growing Pains” video, as well as recent appearances on Fallon, Colbert and The Today Show. Cara told the Today crew: “It's an artistic way of symbolizing the idea of growing up. Sometimes you kind of feel like you're drowning and you feel like you're not ready for the roles life throws at you so this was my way of symbolizing it in an artistic way.” Cara also took to her Instagram to help add some clarity, saying “the oversized suit visually represents the idea of growing up too fast, or trying to fit ourselves into roles that can feel too large to handle. we aren’t always prepared for life when it runs towards us full speed. sometimes it feels like we’re drowning in it a little, sometimes it’s mundane and stagnant. that’s what the suit is.” Watch the official video for “Trust My Lonely” HERE.

On November 25, Alessia Cara will perform during the Freedom Mobile 106th Grey Cup Halftime Show in Edmonton at The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium. Canada’s largest annual sporting event will be broadcast LIVE on TSN, RDS, ESPN2, BT Sport and on TSN Radio and Sirius XM radio beginning at 6 p.m. ET.

“Performing at the Grey Cup as a Canadian is such an honour,” said Alessia Cara. “Excited to be part of the half time show and freeze all my fingertips off with you guys.”

“We are so proud to have one of Canada’s most promising stars perform at our pinnacle event, the 106th Grey Cup in Edmonton,” said CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie. “With Alessia Cara headlining the Freedom Mobile Halftime Show and the action-packed Grey Cup Festival, everything points to another special Grey Cup week and game come November.”

As Cara hits the road on a whirlwind promotional tour for “Trust My Lonely”, she has scheduled a series of speaking engagements at four college campuses discussing her music, her process, and her personal story of growth as an artist and as young woman. The tour began October 1st at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music and continued at the University of Central Florida in Orlando on October 2nd; Georgia State University in Atlanta on October 3rd and today at the Detroit Institute of Music Education.

“Growing Pains” followed “1-800-273-8255”, her landmark 5x-Platinum collaboration with fellow Def Jam artist Logic, and “Stay”, her Double-Platinum #1 Pop Song collaboration with Zedd. Together with her prior Multi-Platinum hits “Here”, “Wild Things”, and “Scars To Your Beautiful”, all from her 2015 debut album, Know It All, Cara was named “Most-Streamed New Female Artist of 2017” with over 7 billion global streams to date. The combined YouTube views for the “1-800-273-8255” video are over 415 million to date and the combined views for the “Stay” video are over 150 million to date.

Singer-songwriter Alessia Cara, a JUNO Award Winner for 2016 Breakthrough Artist of the Year, went on to receive the “Rule Breaker” honour at the Billboard Women in Music annual event.  She won MTV VMAs in 2017 for Best Electronic Dance Video (for “Stay”) and Best Fight Against The System (for her Multi-Platinum #1 Billboard Pop Song “Scars To Your Beautiful” which she and Logic performed with Khalid as the climactic moment of this year’s Grammy broadcast).  Cara also won back-to-back ASCAP Pop Awards for “Stay” and “Scars To Your Beautiful”, along with Dance Song of the Year (for “Stay”) at the iHeart Radio Music Awards.

Cara has earned nominations for Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock at the 2017 American Music Awards, the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Breakout Artist, the Billboard Music Award for Top New Artist, the BET Award for Best New Artist, the BBC Award for Song of The Year, and many other honours. In addition, she lent her voice to the RIAA platinum “How Far I’ll Go” penned by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the official song of Disney’s animated film Moana.
