26 MAY 2023 (TORONTO, ON) – Global artists Johnny Orlando and Ali Gatie team up to release new track and visualizer for "When I’m Gone", out now via Universal Music Canada/Republic Records.

"When I’m Gone" is co-written by Orlando, Gatie and collaborators Pink Sweat$ (David Bowden) and producer Michael Keenan (G-Easy, Melanie Martinez, Madison Beer), and recorded in both Toronto and Los Angeles. The emotional music is a pleasing mixture of their vocals that cohesively blend with euphonious guitar, keys and drums beats.  The song was crafted as a call back to both artists’ 2022 North American tour where they bonded on the road.

The accompanied visualizer was directed by artist, designer and animator Marvin Lau (badbadnotgood, Kehlani, Justin Nozzuka). The video sees silhouetted animations of both artists mixed with layered imagery and motion graphics that complement the emotional lyrics, watch here.

Next month, Orlando performs opening slot for Walk Off The Earth on June 3 at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage alongside label mate Preston Pablo. Tickets are on sale now here. Stay tuned for much more from Johnny Orlando throughout 2023 by signing up for his mailing list here.

About Ali Gatie:

Ali Gatie’s music is intimate in a way that almost feels private. The Toronto-raised artist’s pop-meets-R&B is often vulnerable, wounded, and yearning — listening is less like thumbing through his diary than stumbling upon the pages he’s ripped out and stuffed at the bottom of a drawer. Hits like double-platinum acoustic love letter “It’s You” and 2021 EP, The Idea of Her, demonstrate how affecting such an approach can be — he shares the contours of his emotions in hopes that listeners see themselves reflected. And his fans, The LISNers, have connected to these songs in a way that feels profound. After blossoming his sound via bigger projects like 2020’s You, he’s now accumulated over 3.5 billion streams across platforms.
