17 OCTOBER 2022 (TORONTO, ON) - Burgeoning Canadian artist Nemahsis unveils her brand new single ‘criminal’ and makes her COLORS Studio debut with a standout performance.
Built around melancholic piano melodies and atmospheric strings underpinning Nemah’s superb vocal performance, ‘criminal’ is a beautiful ballad that delves into the emotions she experienced when her vulnerability and openness got taken for granted.
When speaking about her new single, Nemah explains, "I'm a pretty closed-off person. It takes a while for me to let someone in. In this case, there was one that slipped through the cracks. I let them in without doing the time. A successful criminal will face forward their best traits, so you let your guard down & let them in. They will slowly steal from you, and before you notice, they’re gone. You’re left replaying every moment in your head, wondering how you missed the signs.” Alongside the release of ‘criminal’, Nemah performs her new single on global platform, COLORS.
2022 marked the release of Nemah’s debut EP titled eleven achers, a 6-track project encapsulating the young Canadian’s vulnerability and innermost thoughts towards her religious heritage and complex cultural upbringing. She highlights pivotal moments in her life to date through her thought-provoking lyrics, which are becoming her musical signature. The EP boasts previous singles, ‘paper thin’, ‘dollar signs’ and her artistic defining debut offering ‘what if i took it off for you?’.
This summer, Nemah headed out on a European run of shows, performing her much-loved songs from her eleven achers EP in intimate venues and connecting with her growing community of fans in person for the first time.
Nemah’s new single showcases her relatability as an artist and young woman navigating today’s society. A sophisticated response to when a person falls short of expectations, ‘criminal’ highlights a new chapter for the young Canadian artist.
