OLIVIA O’BRIEN RELEASES BRAND NEW SINGLE + MUSIC VIDEO “NOW” AVAILABLE TODAY
FOLLOWS MASSIVE SUCCESS OF “JOSSLYN,” OVER 70 MILLION STREAMS, FROM THE RESULTS OF MY POOR JUDGMENT, SECOND RELEASE IN HER INNOVATIVE MICROMIXTAPE SERIES
18 SEPTEMBER 2020 (TORONTO, ON) - Olivia O’Brien, the Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter with over 1.5 billion global artist streams confronts the cynical post-modern top-down era of impossible romance and feckless infidelity in “NOW,” her brand new single available today via Island Records/Universal Music Canada, the country's leading music company. “NOW” interpolates Akon’s hit song “Right Now (Na Na Na)” and Olivia takes it a step further by paying homage to Akon through channeling the album artwork for his Freedom album. The “NOW” music video was directed by frequent collaborator Amber Park and features a host of special guests including Luka Sabbat, Devon Carlson, Sydney Carlson, Alexandra Cooper, Quen Blackwell, Duke Nicholson and more. The video is an explosion of hot color scenes and vignettes that display songwriter Olivia’s unique sense of style, contrasted with the song’s utter cool as she gets even with her shameless boyfriend. The nostalgic video references popular 2000’s cultural moments and celebrities including Christina Aguilera, Lizzie Maguire, Britney Spears, and The Simple Life with Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie.

“NOW” comes hot on the heels of “Josslyn,” with over 70 million global audio streams. Released in March, it went viral via TikTok, landed on the Spotify U.S. Viral 50 Chart, and was added to the platform’s Pop Rising, Teen Party, Teen Beats, and Swag! playlists. Laced with the 20-year old pop singer’s signature poetic vulnerability and comedic vulgarity, the song mines a familiar vein, the protagonist’s discovery of her love interest’s infidelity. The hit inspired the psychedelic “Josslyn (Official Quarantine Music Video),” filmed entirely at Olivia’s home. Reflecting the new reality of life under self-quarantine, it has become a standout clip in the age of at-home DIY content amid social distancing. The final touch was the “Josslyn (Remix)” featuring rapper 24kGoldn. Their first collabo, it illuminates a poignant portrait of someone who knows they’ve done wrong, as 24kGoldn’s energetic verse drifts naturally into a wistful register that is guaranteed to pull on the iciest of heartstrings.
The Results Of My Poor Judgment and It Was A Sad F**King Summer represented Olivia’s first new music since her debut album Was It Even Real?. The LP gathered all of Olivia’s critically acclaimed single releases, including “UDK,” “I Don’t Exist,” “Care Less More,” "Love Myself," "Just Friends," and "Just A Boy."
“NOW” continues the positive career trajectory of one of Island’s most promising young artists. She first earned success in 2015, with “i hate u i love u,” her 1 billion-streaming RIAA triple-platinum, self-composed debut smash collaboration with gnash, introducing Olivia as a rising pop star to be reckoned with. She was selected for Paper magazine’s "100 Women Revolutionizing Pop Music." She has also received overwhelming praise from NYLON, V Magazine, Ones to Watch, and more.
Olivia’s 25-city headlining it was a Sad f**king Tour of the U.S. and Canada in February and March, which was to be followed in April by performances over both weekends of Coachella, was halted by Covid. It was Olivia’s first major road trip since her 18-city Was It Even Real headline tour of North America in 2019.
