With an artist agreement to release their own music, and an A&R partnership to co-sign artists to UMC and their own label, 31 East, the globally successful Montréal-based duo enter the next chapter of their careers focused on amplifying Canadian talent.
The Latin GRAMMY Award nominated Banx & Ranx have amassed over 2 billion streams and more than 1 billion YouTube views worldwide, producing, co-writing and collaborating in three languages with megastars like Dua Lipa, Blackpink, J Balvin, Ty Dolla $ign, Shenseea, Sia, David Guetta, Ellie Goulding, Sean Paul, Diplo, Major Lazer, Gorillaz and more.
“Soké and Yannick are among the most dynamic and creative musical minds,” said Jeffrey Remedios, Chairman & CEO, Universal Music Canada. “They are international hit-makers, working with the biggest names in music today, though what’s most exciting is the energy and vision they direct toward discovering, developing and elevating the artists they believe in. Made in Canada, shared on a global stage.”
After years working internationally, Banx & Ranx bring their experience and success home to Canada, working alongside the Universal Music Canada team, led by Chairman & CEO Jeffrey Remedios, to sign, support and elevate the next generation of Canadian artists bound for international acclaim. Among the first artists signed under this new arrangement with 31 East are pop-EDM songstress Rêve and the Filipino-Canadian singer-songwriter Preston Pablo
“This has been our life’s goal, so signing with Universal Music Canada, both as recording artists and partners who co-sign and support Canadian artists made a lot of sense to us," say Banx & Ranx.Over the past few years, we have been traveling, making records and gaining international experience and it feels good to bring everything back home to help support the next generation of talent.”
Alongside today’s announcement, Banx & Ranx release their highly anticipated single “Headphones” featuring Rêve. An infectious earworm, “Headphones” surges with the electric energy both the multi-talented duo and the breakout singer are known for. “Making our first single on UMC with Rêve is a great way to start our new journey,” say Banx & Ranx. “It’s a pure energy track from Canadian artists to the world. We are really proud of this one and can’t wait to share what else we have coming this year!”
