“[Jacklin demonstrates] a breathtakingly precise voice that can move through octaves with the glee of a gymnast and an innate skill at channeling emotion through sparse, loaded lyrics.” – Los Angeles Times
“Julia Jacklin hits right in the heart.” – NPR Music
“…Jacklin examines themes of love and loss and thoughtfulness with a prickling sense of self-awareness.” — Noisey
“The various ways that Jacklin puts these feelings into motion through song proves how far-reaching her abilities are.” – Exclaim!23 JANUARY 2017 (Toronto, ON) - Julia Jacklin has shared a cover of The Strokes’ “Someday” performed in her own distinctive style. Recorded in session for Australian radio station Triple J’s “Like A Version” series, watch it HERE. “It was the first song I ever heard by The Strokes,” Jacklin says. “I was around 12 years old and at my next-door neighbor’s house. A song that came at the time when you’re starting to figure out what music you actually like, not just what you’re told to like. It was super nice to revisit it so many years later when I’m a musician myself.” This spring, Jacklin will embark on her first North American tour since the release of her critically acclaimed debut album, Don’t Let The Kids Win, out now on Polyvinyl / Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. The tour includes two Canadian dates this April, in Vancouver and Toronto. Jacklin, who The New York Times described as “singing thoughtfully about the everyday experiences of heartache,” released her debut album to a slew of praise from the likes of Exclaim, NPR Music, The Los Angeles Times, Paste, the Associated Press, INTERVIEW and Noisey. The album earned 4-star reviews throughout the UK and was featured in many end-of-year lists including Loud & Quiet, Esquire, Q Magazine, and The Line Of Best Fit.
