Ace (D2C-exclusive Coke Bottle Clear LP w/ Signed Artcard)
- Artist:
- Madison Cunningham
Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Madison Cunningham releases Ace - her third studio album on Verve Forecast and highly anticipated follow-up to Grammy® Best Folk Album winner Revealer (2022) – on October 10, 2025.
Written almost entirely in August 2024, Ace is a record about love, every part of it: falling out of love, having your heart broken, then falling in love again. The album, on which Cunningham serves as co-producer [alongside Robbie Lackritz (Feist, Rilo Kiley, Bahamas, Peach Pit)], also sees the acclaimed guitarist bring the piano into the foreground, creating intimate songs that are as playful as they are reflective.
Ace builds off Revealer and her debut Who Are You Now (2019), on which Cunningham was writing songs about heartbreak, but not her heartbreak. They were sketches, observations. Here, Cunningham wanted Ace to be emotions first – heartbreaking while lush and bold, candid whilst maintaining autonomy over her own story, nonlinear but with a clear beginning and end.
Over the years, she has cemented herself not only as a favorite musician of artists like John Mayer, Hozier, and Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes (who appears here on the track 6, “Wake”), but also a critically lauded collaborator, most recently with Lucy Dacus, Mumford & Sons, Andrew Bird, Lucius and Remi Wolf. Ace was an ensemble effort. Her bandmates here are musicians with whom she has worked for years, who helped sharpen her vision into something that feels alive in all the ways Cunningham hoped when she started writing.
